In this class you will learn all about medicine pouches, including their benefits and healing properties. You will also make your very own medicine pouch and the elements for doing so are included in the class. Unlock this amazing energy medicine tradition and gain a deeper understanding of nature and all the magic it contains.
A Shaman is the earliest known practitioner of “Medicine” to heal and illuminate the Tribe or community. They worked with nature by communicating with the Spirits of Nature as well as what they called “Great Spirit,” what we call Source or God. The Shaman believes everything in nature has a Spirit which is aligned with Great Spirit. The Tree Spirit teaches flexibility and deep connection to each other as well as the specific nature of a particular tree, be it oak tree or pine tree, willow or palm tree. They all had similar and particular Medicine. The Mountain Spirit brings the Medicine of strength and stamina.
Animals had Spirit Medicine and each animal carries its own unique Medicine. An Eagle holds the Medicine of Higher Vision and carries the messages to and from the People of the Land to Great Spirit. Whereas the Ant carries the Medicine of patience, persistent and working in community. Every animal carries its own unique Medicine. Shamans are also the communicators “between worlds” meaning they shift consciousness between the seen and unseen world, the known and the unknown world. They have the ability to communicate with these Spirits and bring their Medicine to those in need.
If a person of the Tribe was feeling lost and week, the Shaman would begin to communicate with that Tribe Members Higher Self to see what was taking place then they may communicate with a nearby river where it takes them on a Journey to understand what that Tribe Member may need to be whole again. The Shaman would “gather” the Medicine and then infuse it into the Tribe Member with the use of sound, herbs, stones, sacred icons or symbols for the ultimate healing of the person they are working with.
As the Shaman Journeys between the worlds of the Known and Unknown they are faced with their own difficulties as there are malevolent Spirits whose intention is to trap the “Medicine Keeper” (the Shaman) in order to cause harm to the Shaman and to the community. To help the Shaman stay safe they wore their own Medicine Pouch for their protection against the Spirits seeking to do harm. Often they would also make Medicine Pouches for their Tribe Members to assist them in obtaining whatever their needs may be. The Medicine Pouch is filled with the Medicine of what is needed; sacred icons, stones and bits of nature with specific Medicine, words and symbols of the Medicine necessary.
Today we make Medicine Pouches to help heal Body, Mind and Spirit. When someone is feeling vulnerable then we make a Protection Medicine Pouch. When someone has a financial difficulty, we make a Prosperity Medicine Pouch. When someone is facing hard decisions in life, we make a Wisdom Medicine Pouch. These Medicine Pouches carry the specific Medicine necessary to reduce the hardship and increase the fortune.
